Gather your tools
Before you start cleaning your driveway, get all the required equipment for the task. That will make sure you are not running off halfway to get the tools for cleaning.
An excellent old outdoor broom, stiff brush, a pair of gloves, cleaner solution, and garden hose is all you need. Bleach or vinegar is required to target the tough stains.
Quick broom sweep
Start off by giving a quick but thorough sweep to the driveway using the outdoor broom. That will get rid of all the loose debris and accumulation on the driveway. Clearing the driveway of the dirt will make stains visible, which might need some additional treatment.
Cleaner solution
You can get hold of a regular cleaner from the general store or create your cleaning solution. But make sure you have either one of them. Depending on the size of the driveway, mix the solution and spray it all over the driveway. Please keep it for some time to soak for better results.
Scrubbing
This task will require you to get down on your knees and elbows. Using a brush, start scrubbing the driveway thoroughly to remove all the dirt, moulds, mildews and stains. Dip the brush in the cleaning solution while cleaning the surface for lather and effective cleaning. Make sure the bristles are not metallic, as they can ruin the surface.
Rinsing with a garden hose
After giving the driveway a good scrub, rinse it off with a garden hose. Run the water through the driveway, getting rid of all residue and cleaning solutions. The results will be best if the garden hose is regulated to higher pressure.
Removing oil stains
Different stains require different treatments. Using kitty litter or other absorbent material can help remove stains without using a washer. These hacks can work equally well as a washer. Apply the litter on the oils spot and let it soak for a while. Clear the litter and pour on it a solution of baking soda and vinegar. A little scrubbing after the frizzle and hose down will remove the stain.
Using bleach for stains
Using bleach as a solution against tough stains is a good alternative, especially if you don’t have a pressure washer. Keep safety by using gloves to protect you from reactions. Using bleach is also one of the budget-friendly hacks for cleaning the driveway. After giving a bleach spray, scrub the stained areas and rinse it off with a garden hose.
Conclusion
Cleaning a driveway without a pressure washer is not as daunting as it looks. You can still get a perfect wash without a washer.
